Guiding You Through
Your Medicare Options
Navigating Medicare can feel complex, but Pamela Camey, Healthcare Solutions Team are here to simplify it. We provide expert guidance whether you're new to Medicare or looking to optimize your existing coverage.
Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. These plans cover the same health services as Medicare Part A and B. Many also include prescription drug coverage, and some even provide additional benefits like wellness coverage, annual physicals, vision, hearing, and dental care.
Medicare Advantage plans function as either a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Preferred Provider Organization (PPOs), or Point of Service (POS), meaning you'll generally use providers within their network. Some plans may require referrals or prior authorizations. Geography matters, as copayments and coinsurance can vary between counties within your resident state. These plans limit your out-of-pocket spending for the year, known as the Medical Maximum Out of Pocket, which can also vary by county and plan.
Original Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance) can leave gaps in coverage. A Medicare Supplement Insurance Policy (Medigap) is sold by private insurance companies and helps supplement Original Medicare.
A Medigap policy helps pay some of the remaining health costs not covered by Original Medicare, such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance for services and supplies. If you have Original Medicare and a Medigap policy, Medicare pays its share of approved amounts, and then your Medigap policy pays its share.
The high cost of prescription drug coverage is a common concern. Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (Part D) are offered through private insurance companies. Enrollment typically begins three months before your 65th birthday and ends three months after it; failing to enroll when eligible may result in an ongoing penalty.
Pamela will guide you through selecting your Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, reviewing all your prescriptions, and educating you on how these plans work. This education empowers you to make a sound decision on the plan that best meets your needs.
